Gold purity testing for gold items by XRF. Gold jewellery, grains, nuggets and bar can be assayed for compositions from 1% to 99.99%. A report is provided, giving elemental composition in percent, for example:
Au: 97.82%
Ag: 1.14%
Cu: 1.04%
Certificate provided for precious metals
I will also report the Karat purity; for example, 9K, 14K, 18K, 24K
Metal analysis, all kinds of metals.
Mineral and ore testing, all kinds of minerals and ores for elements from Na to U on the periodic table. For minerals, a 2mm grain or larger is sufficient. For the light elements, from Li to K, I use LIBS. LIBS is a qualitative method. XRF is quantitative or semi-quantitative, depending on the type of sample. Detection limits vary considerably, depending on the sample, from 0.001% to 1%. This price is for a basic report showing element percentage. A XRF or LIBS spectral plot showing peaks and a sample photo can be provided for $10 extra.
Meteorite testing
Many other materials and elements

XRF1

    • XRF analysis of sample/item. Includes report and semi- or quantitative analysis.
    • Minimum size 2mm grain. If your sample is a large gold or metal sample, all we need are some drill shavings, obtained with 3/16 inch drill.
    • Items can be dropped off at my home, sent by tracked mail or courier. Drop off in Leopold, 3224. Please include return postage if sending by mail.

Price: AU$20.00 per sample

Raman1

    • Raman or UV/Vis/NIR spectrometry identification of a gem or mineral. Includes identification of gem or mineral by Raman or UV/Vis/NIR spectrometry. Raman is arguably the best method for scientifically proving the ID of diamonds from simulants. Raman is an excellent non-destructive method for scientifically proving the ID of gemstones from simulants and fakes. Ideally suited to Diamonds, Rubies, Sapphires, Emeralds, Pearls and other precious gemstones. Tested while in setting, without any modification etc. Not available for all minerals. Minimum size 0.5mm grain. Certificate supplied. We also confirmation test organic compounds, chemicals and plastics using Raman spectrometry.

Price: AU$20.00 per sample

XRD1

    • XRD analysis of mineral. Includes identification of mineral by XRD. Single phase, multi-phase and clay fractions.

Price: AU$120.00 per sample

RAD1

    • Scintillation counting of sample. Determination of radioactivity in wipe sample, mineral etc.

Price: AU$20.00 per sample

Photo1: Digital Photomicrograph

    • Digital photography with a polarizing microscope or stereo microscope.

Price: AU$5.00 per photo.

Core1: Core Logging/Borehole Logging

    • Logging of drilling core/cuttings or borehole

Price: AU$500.00 per day plus expenses.

Field1: Field Work

    • eg: field surveying, well/drill site supervision, environment testing (water/soil/mine), soil/chip sampling, photography
      Geological field work.

Price: AU$500.00 per day plus expenses.

Research1: Research\Geological Work

    • eg: literature surveys, survey planning, aerial/satellite photo interp, wireline log/stratigraphy interp, contour/3d mapping/reserves, data analysis/interpretation/processing, systems design, geochemistry, mineralogy
      Research/Geological Work.

Price: AU$300.00 per day
